Black Americans have learned that the names they carry have a murky and hurtful history. African-American genealogy research requires following extra paths to learn about ancestors. Joyce Sharrock-Cole, the Ossining Village Historian and a certified genealogist, has used those paths often to uncover her own family roots and the roots of others. Join her to find places to look for branches of your family tree. This free event will be held at the Newburgh Free Library. Please make sure you register with the Library’s online Calendar of Events.
