Join us as we welcome Sharon Waddell (President of the National Temple Hill Association and Historic Edmonston House), an expert on early American textiles, who will speak on the life and career of James Alexander, one of Newburgh’s earliest known weavers and an important early American innovator in textile production. We will have several examples of his nineteenth-century coverlets on display, and Waddell will guide the audience through their craftsmanship and context.
Come and enjoy an evening with us at the Crawford House while sipping on a cocktail or mocktail. Light refreshments will be served. This lecture is free to the public, though a donation is requested.
