  • David Crawford House 189 Montgomery Street Newburgh, NY, 12550 United States (map)

While we know much about David Crawford, the wealthy merchant and original owner of Crawford House, far less is known about the other 19th-century residents who lived and worked here. Using census records and other sources, Mary McTamaney will discuss the fascinating history of the many others who called 189 Montgomery Street home. What emerges is a new picture of a much more ethnically and racially diverse community of employees, tenants, and relatives who lived and worked here together. Come and enjoy a cocktail or mocktail in the Crawford House parlors as we explore this unfolding story. This lecture is free to the public, though a donation is requested.
