Discuss classic literature inside of a beautiful historic home! The Classics Book Club is a quarterly book discussion group hosted at the Crawford House in Newburgh, NY (189 Montgomery Street). The club brings together seasoned lovers of classic literature and modern fiction readers looking to challenge themselves. Readers will explore some of the most famous works in the canon as well as lesser-known titles that showcase unique points of view throughout history. This program is a collaboration between the Newburgh Free Library and the Newburgh Historical Society.
This season's read is Sense & Sensibility by Jane Austen. Sense & Sensibility is Austen's first published novel. It follows the lives of the Dashwood sisters after they are forced to leave their family estate in Sussex for a small cottage in Devon. This is an opportunity to discuss the book ahead of the Focus Features film adaptation that comes to theaters on October 16.
