Archtober: Scan-A-thon

Bring the past to life again! The Newburgh Historical Society invites you to the first-ever Archive Scanathon on Sunday, October 6, from 10-3pm at the Crawford House, 189 Montgomery Street.

Part of Newburgh Archtober 2024, this free event invites participants to bring hard-copy images of the buildings and streetscapes of Greater Newburgh to be digitized at no charge. Participants will leave with access to high-res digital files and their original materials. Accepted formats include photographs, negatives, or slides (limit 12 per person). To promote and preserve Newburgh’s history, digital files will be stored in the Historical Society’s database, with some shared publicly on social media, and the Society’s website.

Reservations for scanning are required. Participants may elect to drop off their materials or wait at the Crawford House, enjoying tours of the historic 1830 home and exhibitions.
